Assistant Manager, Global Vessel Operations (Global Ocean Routing Advisory) (Global HQ)

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide safe optimized weather routing for the entire vessel, adjusting vessel routes based on the latest schedule, currents and weather forecasts.
• Liaise with global and regional operation teams to manage schedule adjustments during adverse weather.
• Manage relationships with external weather routing vendors, ensuring consistency and synergy between providers and vessel needs.
• Drive operational innovation by researching, proposing, and implementing new technologies and best practices to optimize vessel routing and internal workflows.
• Monitor vessel performance and take immediate action to mitigate costs.
• Future job scope may extend to marine assistance and supporting the operations teams to enhance day to day operations in stowage and vessel micro management team as required
• Support in any ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies or any related field
• Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience in the maritime industry, including onboard or shore experience.
• Prior experience in weather routing or marine related work is preferred
• Prior sailing background, or experience routing vessels from a fleet centre, is a strong advantage
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills to resolve complex operational issues
• Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines while working under pressure
• Able to work collaboratively within a cross cultural team and possess an adaptable mindset for a dynamic work environment
• Proficiency in AI tools and Google Workspace applications
