Sephora SEA's omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines) with 100+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora SEA is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e., Click and collect and marketplace).

The Opportunity

As an Assistant Manager, Financial Controller, you will assist in group, statutory, and regulatory reporting, manage tax filings and associated risks, and lead the market's financial control environment. You will also identify financial risks and collaborate with the regional internal audit team to resolve them.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Ensure compliance with all group, statutory, and regulatory reporting requirements by preparing and submitting accurate financial reports by coordinating with various departments to gather necessary data, ensuring adherence to reporting standards, and meeting deadlines
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring that financial statements are accurate and comply with regulatory requirements
  • Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results with budgets and forecasts, identifying reasons for deviations and recommending corrective actions
  • Support the preparation and submission of tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local tax laws
  • Identify and manage potential tax risks by staying updated on tax regulations, implementing best practices, and working with tax advisors to mitigate any issues
  • Lead the financial control environment within the market, ensuring robust internal controls are in place
  • Identify financial risks and collaborate with the APAC internal audit team to address and resolve any issues, enhancing the overall financial integrity and compliance of the organization
  • Manage cost control processes, monitor expenses, and ensure that the company operates within its budget
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure the integrity of financial information
  • Analyse historical financial data to ensure accuracy and adherence to financial regulations and internal policies

We would love to hear from you if you are/have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are advantageous
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in accounting and financial reporting, including preparing financial statements and managing month-end and year-end close processes
  • Proficiency in tax filing and compliance, managing tax risks, and ensuring adherence to local and international tax regulations
  • Expertise in internal controls and audits, conducting risk assessments, and working with internal and external auditors
  • Strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Proficiency in preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial documentation and reporting
  • Skills in planning and managing financial projects, including timelines, resources, and deliverables
  • Ability to track and report on the performance of financial projects
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present effectively to senior stakeholders
  • Stakeholder management and influencing skills in a multicultural environment
