Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a leading global university recognised for its excellence in research, innovation, and education. We are committed to developing future-ready talent and fostering impactful collaborations worldwide.

The College of Engineering (CoE) at NTU is seeking a digitally savvy, detail-oriented Assistant Manager, Communications & Branding to support multi-platform storytelling across web, social media, and digital channels.

Working closely with the Head of Communications & Branding, you will help shape how NTU Engineering presents its research, people, and impact through clean, user-centred design and engaging digital content. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong visual and UX sensibilities with an interest in translating complex ideas into accessible, compelling stories.

While a formal science background is not required, curiosity about engineering and emerging technologies - and a willingness to learn - is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Visual Communication & Design

  • Develop visual assets across digital and print platforms, including social media graphics, web visuals, and campaign materials.

  • Apply strong graphic design principles to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with NTU brand guidelines.

  • Translate complex research concepts into accessible visual formats (e.g. infographics, explainer visuals).

  • Maintain visual coherence across platforms, from social content to web pages and publications.

2. Website & User Experience (UI/UX)

  • Maintain and enhance the College of Engineering website with a focus on usability, structure, and visual clarity.

  • Apply UI/UX principles to improve navigation, layout, and content hierarchy.

  • Optimise pages for accessibility, SEO, and mobile responsiveness.

  • Conduct content and design audits to improve user journeys and engagement.

3. Social Media Strategy & Content

  • Manage the College's social media content calendar across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube).

  • Plan and sequence content to ensure consistent, strategic storytelling across campaigns, events, and key milestones.

  • Lead the development of visually engaging, platform-native content, including short-form video and graphic-led posts.

  • Establish and maintain content rhythms, ensuring timely and coordinated publishing.

  • Work with college heads, school communication officers, and stakeholders to source, prioritise, and align content for amplification.

  • Monitor performance and translate analytics into actionable improvements in content strategy and execution.

4. Digital Storytelling & Content Development

  • Translate research, student, and faculty stories into clear, accessible content for digital platforms.

  • Support the drafting and editing of web copy, newsletters, and campaign materials.

  • Ensure consistency in tone, clarity, and audience relevance across platforms.

5. Analytics & Performance Insights

  • Monitor and analyse performance using tools such as Hootesuite, Google Analytics, Meta Insights, and LinkedIn Analytics.

  • Support the development of dashboards and regular performance reports.

  • Use data insights to inform content strategy, UX improvements, and campaign effectiveness.

6. Coordination Across Schools

  • Work with the College's four schools to gather and prioritise content for the central content and social media calendar.

  • Coordinate amplification efforts to maximise reach, consistency, and impact across platforms.

7. Strategic & Operational Support

  • Contribute to process improvements and workflow optimisation within the communications team.

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for leadership and committees.

  • Support ad hoc communications initiatives as defined by the Head of Communications & Branding.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A recognised university degree in communication design, visual communication, media, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in design-led communications, digital content, social media, or UI/UX roles.

  • Strong graphic design skills with a good eye for layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) or Canva/CapCut.

  • Working knowledge of UI/UX principles and web content management.

  • Experience managing social media calendars and multi-platform content planning.

  • Strong understanding of platform strategy, content cadence, and audience engagement.

  • Strong experience in social media content creation, including short form video

  • Ability to translate complex or technical ideas into clear visual and digital content.

  • Good writing and editing skills for digital platforms.

  • Familiarity with analytics tools and performance tracking.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Interest in science, engineering, and technology - curiosity and initiative in learning about new research are essential.

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate with academic and creative professionals

Personal Attributes

  • Proactive problem-solver with strong service orientation.

  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced academic environment.

  • Strong work ethic with commitment to excellence.

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to think both globally and locally.

  • Visually oriented, with a strong sense of design clarity and audience needs.

  • Collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across academic and creative teams.

Why Join NTU

  • Gain exposure to global engagement and graduate recruitment strategies

  • Opportunities for learning, development, and career growth
