Job Description
Our client, an established organisation in the retail industry, is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager, Buying & Merchandising to support its growing business.
This role focuses on FMCG buying and category management, including supplier sourcing, negotiation, and inventory planning. The successful candidate will also support e-commerce merchandising and operations to drive online sales performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute buying strategies based on sales trends, demand planning, and market insights
- Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, product quality, and reliability
- Negotiate cost prices, payment terms, and commercial agreements to optimise margins
- Monitor category performance and recommend improvements to drive sales and profitability
- Manage inventory levels, replenishment planning, and promotional activities
- Support e-commerce operations, including product listings, pricing updates, and campaign execution
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of product information across online platforms
- Prepare sales, inventory, and performance reports for management review
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, E-Commerce, or related discipline
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in FMCG buying, merchandising, or category management
- Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
- Experience in FMCG, supermarket, or consumer retail industry preferred
- Exposure to e-commerce platforms (e.g. Shopee, Lazada) is an advantage
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
