Job Description

Summary: As an Assistant Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting functions of a group of companies. This includes ensuring statutory compliance (e.g., audit and tax) and supporting financial reporting to senior management. The role also involves participation in ad hoc projects, including business expansion initiatives and accounting system enhancements.

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of consolidated group financial statements and individual entity financial statements in compliance with IFRS and SFRS.
  • Liaise with external auditors on audit matters and ensure timely resolution of audit queries.
  • Prepare GST returns, tax schedules, and review income tax computations prepared by external tax agents.
  • Compile and submit periodic management reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Manage full sets of accounts, including general ledger maintenance and bookkeeping oversight.
  • Monitor and control selected entities manpower and administrative expenses.
  • Oversee accounting matters related to the Group's agency business.
  • Support the Accounting Manager on financial reporting, operational matters, and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in process improvements, system implementations, and other ad hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with a combination of audit and commercial accounting exposure.
  • Proven experience managing full sets of accounts.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS/SFRS).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Prior experience in the Maritime or Shipping industry is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new systems and processes.
