Wine Program & Service
- Support the Head Sommelier in overseeing the daily wine service and operations.
- Recommend and serve wines professionally, ensuring correct storage, presentation, and pouring standards.
- Conduct wine pairings in collaboration with the culinary team.
- Maintain a deep understanding of wine regions, vintages, and food pairings to provide informed guest recommendations.
Wine List & Inventory Management
- Assist in managing the wine list, including updates, pricing, and seasonal selections.
- Supervise stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and monitor wastage and spoilage.
- Ensure proper cellar organization and compliance with storage standards.
- Liaise with suppliers, distributors, and the Head Sommelier on procurement and cost control.
Team Leadership & Training
- Support in training and mentoring junior sommeliers and service staff on wine knowledge and service techniques.
- Lead by example in service standards, professionalism, and guest engagement.
- Assist in staff scheduling, briefings, and performance feedback.
Guest Experience
- Engage with guests to deliver personalized recommendations and enhance dining experiences.
- Handle guest feedback and resolve wine-related issues with poise and professionalism.
- Promote wine sales through upselling and special event initiatives (e.g., wine dinners, tastings).
Requirements
- Diploma or certification in Hospitality, Wine Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of sommelier experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or assistant role.
- Certified Sommelier qualification (Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET Level 3 or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of global wines, viticulture, and food pairings.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
