What will you do
Legal Advisory and Analysis
- Provide analytical and practical legal advice on a wide range of issues including contentious and non-contentious, commercial, corporate, procurement, employment, insurance, and intellectual property matters
- Identify highly complex legal issues related to assigned matters develops alternative solutions and implements resolution
- Distil complex legal issues efficiently and effectively for a business audience, often in novel or ambiguous situation
- Keep abreast of changes in laws.
Business Support and Strategy
- Support the business in achieving objectives by rendering sound legal advice, appropriately balancing business growth and legal risk.
- Advocate for a position while maintaining a collaborative and open-minded approach.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of NCS technology businesses supported and knowledge of the broader business impact.
- Advise Business Leaders and be recognized by these clients as both an expert in substantive law and business advice.
End-to-end Contracting in Singapore and with our Global Units
- Lead end-to-end contracting between the Legal and Commercial Management sub-teams, working closely with the counterpart from Commercial Management
- Pre-contract scope includes advising the business on contract structure, reviewing conditions of the contracts in question against the NCS Contract Policy and establishing the NCS negotiation strategy with internal teams
- Post-sales contract work includes maintaining oversight of any escalated legal risk issues, provision of ongoing advice on contract-related matters and negotiation as it relates to the contract
Contracts and Negotiations
- Respond to RFPs, contracts, tenders, and vendor agreements (for hardware, software, services, and solutions - or a hybrid of these).
- Negotiate independently with customers, suppliers, or government agencies on matters of strategic importance that affect NCS business or areas of significant importance to senior management.
- Prepare applications for exception approval in accordance with the NCS contract policy.
- Support contractual negotiations for the region.
Tools, Processes, and Knowledge Management
- Support the mapping of available templates, legal scenarios, existing knowledge (templates, FAQ, Risk Assessments, etc.), as well as the revision of templates and development of tools and resources for the businesses in the region (where applicable) and the Legal organization.
- Establish a document review process and a template database and trains the business on how best to utilize legal resources.
- Develop scalable tools and resources for the region in connection with legal support of contracts, including training on the process, related systems, and use of templates.
- Conduct or arrange in-house legal training and education for the NCS community.
- Ability to use Legal AI tools to promote efficiency and productivity.
- Participate in knowledge management initiatives.
Project and Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead cross-functional projects.
- Execute core job responsibilities in an organized and timely manner.
- Lead a team of Legal Counsels to achieve the wider objectives of the team.
External Stakeholder Management
- Where applicable, manage NCS external lawyers and consultants
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Called to the Bar in a major jurisdiction.
- 15+ years PQE with several years in private practice in a good law firm. Experience could be in corporate work, litigation or a mix of both. In-house experience in an IT environment will be an advantage candidates without this experience but who are keen to work in an IT environment may also apply.
- Possess strong linguistic ability and good people management skills.
- Strong work ethic, able to work in focused manner and within tight timelines.
- A good bachelor's or master's degree in law from Singapore or UK.
