Assistant Finance Manager (Shipping/Maritime)
Our client is a well-established player within the maritime industry, with a strong presence in Singapore and the wider APAC region. This role will be based at their Tuas office.
Key Responsibilities
- Owning the end-to-end financial close cycle, ensuring reporting deadlines are consistently met
- Acting as the key point of contact for external auditors, driving the audit process and deliverables
- Overseeing statutory reporting requirements, including preparation and review of financial statements
- Managing tax-related matters such as GST and corporate filings, while liaising with external advisors
- Supporting transfer pricing documentation and handling any regulatory queries where required
- Working alongside business teams on budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning
- Providing finance input on ongoing projects, including asset-related accounting and capitalisation decisions
- Reviewing current processes and identifying opportunities to improve controls and reporting efficiency
- Guiding and mentoring junior team members within the function
- Supporting management reporting and responding to ad-hoc business requests
Key Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy or Finance, or a recognised professional qualification (ACCA or equivalent)
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in financial reporting and tax in the shipping/maritime industry is a must
- Solid understanding of Singapore accounting standards and local tax frameworks
- Prior exposure to audit environments would be advantageous
- Strong Excel and analytical capabilities
- A hands-on mindset with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment
