Job Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

Assistant Faculty Head/ Faculty Head, Aerospace Engineering Role:

  • Lead the development of appropriate curriculum, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment, pre-screening and teaching and learning strategies in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management, control and operation of course provision in Aerospace Engineering or related faculty, including effective deployment of staff or sourcing of new teaching staff from TUM or freelance. Be the point of contact between TUM Asia and TUM departments involved in teaching programmes for Aerospace.
  • To teach modules as assigned for Masters Programme (Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering (AE) and to supervise Master Thesis whenever required. Co-lecturer for MSc Aerospace Engineering if required and qualified.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of existing programmes in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Development and implementation of applicant screening processes for student applicants.
  • Be the point of contact between TUM Asia and TUM departments involved in teaching programmes.
  • Identify possible cooperation partners for research cooperation and development of joint research proposals.
  • Representation of TUM Asia in industry contacts and industry associations.
  • Development of proposals to secure financial support from funding agencies and institutions for research projects.
  • Development of collaborative partnerships, projects, programmes and initiatives with overseas universities partners and development of proposals to secure financial support from funding agencies and institutions for research projects.
  • Lead and manage the planning function in Aerospace Engineering or related faculty.
  • To support in student recruitment fairs and talks.
  • To spearhead in new business projects and initiatives in other fields.
  • Offer academic mentoring and student support, addressing academic concerns, progression matters, and overall student development.
  • Supervise and monitor student internships, liaising with industry partners to ensure learning objectives are met and performance standards maintained.
  • Any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Project Liaison Role:

  • Be the main liaison person with our parent university in Germany and acts as a facilitator and problemsolver.
  • Work with the Management and/or our parent university on planning and implementing research and academic projects which includes setting up of new MSc programs and relevant research projects.
  • Oversees all aspects of projects from the start to the completion of project.
  • Work directly with Professors, faculty heads and other external project stakeholders to ensure all deliverables fall within applicable scope and budget and compatible with established projects goals and objectives.
  • Creates formal presentations to various senior level management and able to present the proposal well.
  • Handling various scholarships and grants.
  • Maintain close relationships with partner universities and partner companies in Germany.
  • Implement and improve academic processes within the university and to ensure that it is in line with our parent university.
  • Spearhead, organize and coordinate events/conferences and internal/external meetings.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties/projects assigned by the management.

Requirements:

  • Atleast a Masters in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent. Can didates with PhD with relevant 5 years of working experience will be considered Faculty Head position.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the education or related industry.
  • Able to work independently and yet a good team player.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel at times to support in student recruitment fairs or talks.
  • Self-starter and has the tenacity to see a plan through to execution.
  • Hands-on, takes ownership of projects and possess a sense of urgency.
  • Strong project ownership with the ability to drive initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strongwritten and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills across cultures and seniority levels.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced academic environment.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for recruitment and partnership activities.
  • Outgoing personality able to get along well with people across all levels.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet reporting deadline. Possess positive working attitude and a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building skills.
