Job Summary
The Application Manager(BMS) leads the application engineering division, overseeing all technical, operational, and business aspects of Building Management System projects. This management role combines strategic leadership, organizational development, and hands-on technical expertise. The Application Manager is accountable for project delivery excellence, team performance, client satisfaction, and business growth, serving as the ultimate technical authority and strategic leader for BMS application engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Development
. Develop and execute strategic plans for the application engineering division, aligning with organizational goals and market opportunities.
. Drive business development initiatives, including client relationship management, proposal development, and strategic partnerships.
. Represent the company at industry conferences, executive client meetings, and technical forums.
. Establish and maintain relationships with key enterprise clients and technology partners.
Organizational Management & Team Development
. Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of engineering professionals.
. Conduct performance management, including goal setting, reviews, and professional development planning.
. Oversee recruitment and talent acquisition for the application engineering team.
. Establish technical standards and best practices to ensure consistency and excellence.
. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Project Portfolio Management
. Oversee the project portfolio, ensuring optimal resource allocation, risk management, and delivery excellence across multiple concurrent BMS projects.
. Establish project governance frameworks and methodologies to maximize project success.
. Manage project escalations and provide guidance for complex technical and business challenges.
Technical Authority & Innovation
. Serveas the ultimate technical authority for complex BMS solutions, providing expertguidance on system architecture, technology selection, and implementation strategies.
. Drive technology innovation and evaluate emerging technologies for competitive advantage.
. Oversee quality assurance programs and ensure all deliverables meet the higheststandards.
Financial Management & Operations
. Managedepartment P&L, including budget development, cost control, and revenue optimization.
. Develop pricing strategies and ensure competitive positioning for application engineering services.
. Analyze department performance metrics and implement corrective actions to achieve financial and operational targets.
. Manage vendor relationships and strategic partnerships.
Client Relations & Market Development
. Maintain executive-level client relationships, ensuring high satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
. Lead major client presentations and technical proposals for enterprise opportunities.
. Identify market opportunities and develop strategies to expand service offerings andmarket share.
. Ensure client satisfaction through exceptional service delivery and proactive relationship management.
Required Qualifications
Education& Experience
. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or related field)required
. Master's degree in Engineering or MBA preferred
. 8+years of progressive experience in BMS engineering, with at least 5 years in management roles
. Proven track record of managing engineering teams and delivering large-scale BMS projects
Technical Expertise
. Expert-level knowledge of multiple BMS platforms and building automation technologies
. Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, energy management, and building automation protocols
. Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and business operations
. Professional certifications in relevant BMS platforms required
Leadership& Business Skills
. Demonstrated success in managing and developing high-performing teams
. Executive-level communication and presentation skills
. Strong business acumen, including P&L management and strategic planning
. Proven client relationship management skills with enterprise accounts
. Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) preferred
Preferred Qualifications
. Professional engineering license (P.E.) preferred
. Experience with digital transformation initiatives and emerging technologies
. Industry recognition through publications, speaking engagements, or awards
. Experience in mergers & acquisitions or business development activities
