Role Overview
The Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) shall support the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems such as sprinklers, hydrants, pumps, and suppression equipment. The role requires close collaboration with senior engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure that fire safety systems meet performance, reliability, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and drafting of fire protection systems (sprinkler layouts, hydrant networks, pump systems).
- Support hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing for fire suppression systems.
- Conduct site inspections, testing, and commissioning of fire protection installations.
- Prepare technical drawings, reports, and documentation in compliance with NFPA, FM Global, and local fire codes.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and authorities to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor system performance and assist in troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
- Provide technical support during audits, certifications, and fire safety inspections.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of experience in fire protection or mechanical engineering are welcome.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of fire protection systems (sprinklers, hydrants, pumps, suppression systems).
- Familiarity with NFPA standards, local fire codes, and building regulations.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent).
- Basic understanding of hydraulic calculations and mechanical system design.
- Exposure to installation, testing, and commissioning processes in fire safety projects.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and teamwork skills for coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
