Job Description

Job Summary

The jobholder provides strategic leadership and oversight of Family Engagement initiatives, with a focus on strengthening families with stakeholders, communities and families in order to empower parents in nurturing their children. He/She leads in translating ideas and strategies designed at improving family outcomes.|

The Assistant Director leads cross-functional teams within the Family Engagement to design and deliver impactful initiatives, programmes, forge strategic partnerships, as part of MENDAKI's pillar in Strengthening Families, while contributing to the broader M3+ FA1 and FA 2 objectives.

The jobholder is expected to work from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and may be required to work over weekends and public holidays to support organisational events. Although the role is largely office-based, travel for meetings, outreach, and programmes delivery is expected.

Key Responsibility Areas

Strategic and Partnership Management

a.  Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies to advance MENDAKI's family engagement initiatives, translating objectives into actionable team plans.

b.  Foster and maintain robust relationships with stakeholders by identifying and engaging with relevant parties supporting or working with families, to achieve desired outcomes.

c.  Collaborate with government and community organisations to create programme and services for families with children aged up to 16.

d.  Expand and diversify community networks

e.  Advance MENDAKI's Strengthening Family pillar, while supporting national M3+ FA 1 and FA 2 efforts for MM families.

f.   Represent MENDAKI in inter-agency platforms to promote stronger families within the MM community.

g. Collaborate with internal departments to align outreach, engagement, and programme delivery efforts.

Programme Development and Management

a.  Lead and guide team in design, implementation and evaluation of family engagement programmes for the targeted profile and segments of families.

b.  Drive outreach strategies to increase awareness and participation.

c.  Monitor programme outcomes, including registration rates, retention, and engagement metrics for improvement.

d.  Explore innovation and funding opportunities to expand educational assistance and support for families.

e. Ensure proper reporting, compliance, and documentation for funded programmes and initiatives.

Team Leadership and Management

a. Build positive team dynamics amongst members.

b. Support competency building through capability-building, toolkits, SOP reviews, and provision of clear guidance.

c. Promote a collaborative, results-focused team culture aligned with MENDAKI's values.

d. Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence.

e. Set clear performance goals, monitor progress, and provide developmental feedback to build high-performing teams.

f. Lead planning and budgeting for efficient resource use.

g. Ensure budget management, utilisation and reporting for family engagement initiatives.

h. Ensure reporting, compliance and documentation for funded initiatives.

Requirements

a.  Relevant degree from a recognised institution preferred.

b.  6–8 years of relevant experience in family engagement and development.

c.  Prior experience in developing stakeholder strategies, driving stakeholder engagements, sustaining stakeholder relationships and managing partnerships.

d.  Proven leadership experience in strategic planning and programme management.

e.  Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.

f.   Meticulous, resourceful, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.

g. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver measurable outcomes.
