Art Director

As an Art Director at Dezign Format, you lead the creative vision from idea to space. You are a storyteller who thinks in environments, translating brand narratives, concepts, and emotions into meaningful spatial experiences across exhibitions, events, retail environments, and brand activations.

Working closely with the Creative Director, you guide 3D designers and graphic designers to ensure every project is conceptually strong, visually cohesive, and clearly articulated from initial concept through execution.

Responsibilities

Concept & Storytelling

. Lead concept development from brief to spatial narrative.

. Translate brand objectives, product stories, and key messages into clear experiential journeys.

. Develop strong design rationales that explain the relationship between story, form, material, light, and space.

Creative Leadership

. Direct and guide 3D designers and graphic designers to ensure conceptual consistency and quality.

. Review design outputs across all stages, from early sketches to final visuals.

. Push creative thinking while ensuring alignment with project intent and constraints.

Spatial Design & Development

. Design with a strong understanding of scale, flow, sightlines, and user experience.

. Balance creativity with feasibility, budget, and production realities.

. Work closely with production and technical teams to ensure design intent is carried through.

Collaboration & Presentation

. Collaborate with project managers, production teams, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

. Present concepts and design developments clearly to clients, explaining both creative intent and practical considerations.

. Mentor and guide designers, supporting their creative and professional growth.

Requirements

Experience & Background

. Minimum 6-8 years of experience in spatial design, exhibition design, event design, or experiential design.

. Proven experience leading concepts and guiding creative teams.

. Strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling through space.

Skills & Tools

. Proficiency in spatial design software such as SketchUp, Enscape, Rhino or 3ds Max, and Adobe Creative Suite.

. Strong understanding of materials, finishes, lighting, and fabrication considerations.

Soft Skills

. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

. Ability to balance creative ambition with practical constraints.

. Strong sense of ownership, leadership, and accountability.
