Applied AI Engineer

Join EPAM as an Applied AI Engineer to design, build, and deliver production-grade AI systems, integrating advanced features and ensuring reliability, cost-effectiveness, and measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production AI features such as retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows and conversational interfaces
• Develop robust evaluation systems to validate, test and continuously monitor AI performance
• Integrate AI capabilities into client systems and ensure robust engineering for real-world enterprise use
• Collaborate closely with Solution Architects to refine designs and provide early feedback
• Contribute to team knowledge and best practices through thorough code reviews and internal sharing

Requirements

• Proven experience in professional software engineering with a focus on delivering production AI systems including LLMs, RAG, agents and evaluation tooling
• Fluency in Python, TypeScript/Node, or Go
• Familiarity with modern AI engineering stack and evaluation frameworks
• Track record of successfully measuring and improving system performance
• Pragmatic approach to model selection and clear communication regarding AI limitations and tradeoffs

Nice to have

• Experience fine-tuning or post-training open-weight models
• Previous experience working with distributed systems or ML infrastructure
• Open-source contributions to AI tooling
