Overview
We are supporting a search for an APAC Logistics Senior Manager to lead and stabilize regional distribution operations.
This role will take ownership of a recently relocated Distribution Centre (DC) in Johor Bahru, addressing ongoing operational challenges and driving improvements across logistics, systems, and vendor management.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong accountability, capable of operating in a complex and evolving environment while implementing structured, data-driven logistics practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations
- Lead and manage APAC logistics operations across key markets including China, Singapore, Malaysia, and India
- Take full ownership of DC performance, driving stability and operational improvements post-relocation
- Act as the primary point of accountability for logistics-related challenges and resolutions
- Provide strong, visible leadership during operational issues and escalations
Distribution Centre (DC) Management
- Oversee daily operations of the Johor Bahru DC, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and service levels
- Identify operational gaps and implement corrective and preventive measures
- Improve processes within a largely manual and low-automation environment
3PL & Vendor Management
- Manage and drive performance of third-party logistics (3PL) providers
- Lead contract negotiations, vendor selection, and service level agreements
- Ensure accountability and performance delivery from external partners
Logistics & Freight Management
- Oversee primary logistics and freight operations across the region
- Optimize transportation strategies to improve cost, service, and efficiency
- Manage complex logistics involving large, high-value equipment and parts
Process Improvement & Systems
- Drive data-driven decision making to optimize logistics operations
- Identify and resolve gaps in WMS, SAP integration, and tracking systems
- Improve inventory visibility, tracking accuracy, and control mechanisms
- Evaluate and implement solutions for automation and tracking (e.g. GPS, digital tools)
Financial Management
- Manage logistics budgets, cost control, and ROI optimization
- Drive cost efficiencies while maintaining operational performance
- Support strategic planning aligned with business objectives
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with global and regional stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Work cross-functionally with procurement, manufacturing, and operations teams
- Effectively manage escalations and communicate solutions at a senior level
Requirements
- Proven experience managing regional logistics and distribution Centre operations (APAC scope preferred)
- Strong leadership track record with a focus on accountability and ownership
- Experience in DC relocation, setup, or stabilization is highly advantageous
- Extensive background in 3PL management, freight, and contract negotiation
- Experience operating in manual or less structured environments, with a track record of driving improvements
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain (manufacturing to distribution)
- Familiarity with WMS, SAP, and logistics tracking systems
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and operational transformation
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control
Preferred Background:
- Manufacturing, 3PL / freight / global logistics, or consumer goods industries
- Experience handling large-scale equipment or complex logistics operations
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
Additional Information
- Based in Singapore with frequent travel to Johor Bahru
- Involves regular interaction with global teams across time zones (evening calls required)
