Key Responsibilities:
APAC Financial Reporting & Consolidation
- Lead the APAC financial reporting practice, serving as the primary point of contact between financial controller teams of APAC entities (10+ entities including markets of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, HK, Australia, mainland China, etc), Sompo International (Bermuda) and Sompo Head Office (Japan).
- Deliver APAC group reporting and disclosures with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, transparency, in compliance with Sompo group and IFRSs standards.
- Partner closely with the APAC technical accounting manager to manage monthly financial consolidation, including detailed review and challenge of country-level and consolidated financial results.
- Enhance financial analytics and reporting capabilities to support business performance, including development and delivery of financial highlights and balance sheet reporting packages.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, and other functions, spanning multiple geographies for driving initiatives and issues resolutions.
- Coordinate and manage relationships with external auditors
Advisory and Engagement with Local Teams
- Ensure the appropriate structure, capability and governance of the finance control function to deliver business objectives, in alignment with Finance organization target operating model
- Provide oversight and advisory to local finance leaders to ensure a robust and effective financial control environment
- Contribute to regional initiatives, including ledger and financial reporting transformation, process improvement programs.
- Provide governance oversight on regulatory reporting alongside the partnership with local finance leaders
Requirements:
- Qualified CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in managing insurance finance, advisory, audit or related financial services roles.
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including IFRSs and group consolidation.
- Hands-on experience with ERP accounting systems, preferably SAP.
- Proven ability to operate effectively within a multinational, matrixed organization, with strong stakeholder engagement and change management capabilities.
- Exposure to APAC regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions
- Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
