APAC Director – M&E Engineering Consultancy
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced APAC Director to lead the growth and performance of an established M&E engineering consultancy based in Singapore.
This is a senior business and technical leadership position with full responsibility for P&L performance, business development, client relationships, technical delivery and team leadership across Singapore and the wider Asia Pacific region.
The successful candidate will combine strong electrical engineering design expertise with proven commercial and leadership capability. They will be expected to develop new markets and client relationships while maintaining high technical and delivery standards across the business.
A strong understanding of the Singapore M&E consultancy market and local project environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the APAC business P&L, including revenue, profitability, utilisation, margins and resource planning.
- Develop and execute the regional business strategy in line with the company's growth objectives.
- Identify opportunities to expand the consultancy's market presence, service offering and geographic footprint across APAC.
- Establish clear financial, operational and performance targets for the regional business.
- Monitor project and business performance, taking corrective action where required.
- Lead the business development strategy across Singapore and selected APAC markets.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key clients, developers, contractors, architects, asset owners and other industry stakeholders.
- Originate and secure new consultancy opportunities, including major projects and strategic accounts.
- Lead major pitches, tenders, fee proposals and commercial negotiations.
- Develop a strong pipeline of opportunities and convert relationships into profitable project wins.
- Represent the company at industry events and within relevant professional and business networks.
- Provide senior technical direction on electrical engineering design across major projects.
- Review and oversee electrical design strategies, calculations, specifications, authority requirements and technical deliverables.
- Maintain technical quality, design standards and engineering best practice across the consultancy.
- Act as a senior technical advisor to clients and project stakeholders on complex electrical engineering matters.
- Support project teams in resolving technical, commercial and delivery challenges.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant Singapore and international codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, mentor and develop senior engineers, project leaders and wider technical teams.
- Build a high-performing culture focused on technical excellence, client service, commercial performance and accountability.
- Identify future leaders and develop succession plans for the regional business.
- Oversee resource planning, recruitment and retention of key engineering talent.
- Establish effective collaboration across Singapore and other APAC offices or project teams.
- Provide executive oversight of major projects, ensuring delivery against programme, budget, quality and client expectations.
- Work closely with project directors and technical leaders to manage risk, utilisation and project profitability.
- Promote consistent project management, quality assurance and technical governance practices.
- Ensure the business maintains strong standards of health & safety, compliance and professional conduct.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Significant senior-level experience within an M&E / building services engineering consultancy.
- Proven experience leading a business or regional operation with direct P&L responsibility.
- Demonstrated track record in business development, client acquisition and revenue growth.
- Strong technical background in electrical building services engineering and design, specifically data centres
- Substantial experience working in Singapore, with a strong understanding of the local engineering consultancy, construction and development market.
- Experience managing projects and client relationships across APAC is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Singapore regulations, codes, standards and authority requirements relevant to M&E engineering.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Professional registration such as Professional Engineer (PE) Singapore or equivalent would be advantageous.
