Job Description

Job Responsibilities

1) Data Platform & Enterprise Architecture Leadership

  • Define and execute the APAC data platform architecture strategy, aligned with global priorities and regulatory/local market requirements.
  • Architect scalable, secure, future-ready data platforms that support business change and modernization outcomes.
  • Integrate and modernize legacy systems and disparate data sources into unified, trusted data ecosystems enabling analytics, AI/ML, and GenAI.
  • Drive adoption of open systems and standard architectures to improve agility, interoperability, and resilience.

2) Delivery Management & Execution (Architecture-through-Delivery)

  • Be accountable for successful delivery of a regional data platform, including day-to-day coordination and delivery oversight.
  • Partner with sponsors/stakeholders to define goals, deliverables, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support requirements/backlog prioritization, user stories, and alignment ceremonies (stand-ups, showcases/POCs, SteerCo, working groups).
  • Create and deliver against detailed project plans track dependencies, manage delivery risks, and ensure timely execution.
  • Manage budgets/forecasts and oversee external vendors/data providers.

3) Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish and embed architecture principles, standards, and governance, ensuring enterprise-wide alignment.
  • Chair/lead architecture forums as needed and provide strategic oversight for significant technology programs.
  • Build strong relationships across regional/country technology leadership, product, delivery teams, external vendors, and Head Office (Japan).
  • Drive architecture advocacy via workshops and knowledge sharing across business and technology communities.

4) Engineering Excellence (Quality, Simplicity, Performance)

  • Apply strong software engineering practices: code profiling/optimization, debugging complex issues, and choosing appropriate languages/paradigms.
  • Drive pragmatic design: SOLID/cohesion, idempotence, domain modelling, performance-by-design familiarity with CQRS and eventual consistency.
  • Promote modern delivery practices: automation by default, CI/CD, automated security scanning and performance testing.

5) Reliability, Observability, Security & Compliance

  • Design for reliability, performance, and availability and ensure platforms meet both user needs and business goals.
  • Facilitate adoption of platforms with embedded observability, risk, and compliance controls.
  • Ensure secure-by-default engineering, including server hardening fundamentals and use of SSL/encryption principles.

6) People & Talent Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering/delivery teams and the architecture community.
  • Lead design discussions, gain buy-in, and develop others through coaching and knowledge sharing.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years delivering in strong engineering teams, with proven delivery ownership for data/technology initiatives.
  • Strong background in enterprise/data/solution architecture and modernization programs (cloud adoption and large-scale integrated solutions exposure preferred).
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across engineering, product, and senior business leaders ability to collaborate across APAC and with Japan/global teams.
  • Solid foundation across:
  • Software engineering and design practices (performance, SOLID, idempotence, domain modelling).
  • DevOps/automation and CI/CD with security/performance testing automation.
  • Infrastructure basics (OS, scripting, networking) and data storage paradigms ability to automate PaaS usage.
  • Security principles (secure coding, hardening, encryption/SSL).
