The Opportunity

Our client is a global top-tier, privately owned energy and commodities trading house that manages the flow of vital resources across 5 continents. With annual profits consistently exceeding $2 billion, they leverage a sophisticated, data-driven approach to navigate complex markets—including crude oil, refined products, natural gas, power, and metals—connecting producers with end-users worldwide. Complementing their core trading activities, the company is also a recognized leader in financing the global energy transition, investing significantly in renewable energy, biofuels, and decarbonization technologies. They are currently seeking a AP Accountant in Singapore.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and release payments via SWIFT using payment management tools, ensuring all transactions are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Proactively identify and resolve payment-related issues to maintain smooth operational flow.
  • Partner with internal teams such as Treasury and Settlements to review, validate, and confirm payment requests.
  • Serve as a backup for other team members during absences to ensure consistent coverage and timely execution of payment activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with internal stakeholders, external partners, and banks regarding payment matters.
  • Support the preparation of statutory financial statements, quarterly management reports, and financial variance analysis in line with local regulations and company policies.

Requirements:

  • Diploma and above in Accountancy, Finance or other related disciplines
  • Min. 4 years of hands-on accounts payable working experience. Those with prior experience within commodity trading industry is highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of AP workflows, financial reporting and SAP
  • Experience with system implementation or a strong understanding of IT infrastructure and system processes is advantageous
  • Able to work autonomously in fast-paced environments while ensuring high accuracy and meeting deadlines
