About the Role
The Emissions Analyst in the Global Sustainability Team is a subject matter expert in gas analysis using advanced spectroscopy methods. This role is responsible for leading critical emissions data collection and analysis across global R&D and manufacturing sites. The Analyst will play a key role in evaluating emissions performance and supporting initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead emissions data collection activities across global R&D and manufacturing sites using FTIR, QMS, and other advanced analytical technologies.
- Perform Destruction or Removal Efficiency (DRE) measurements for abatement systems in cleanroom environments using mobile FTIR equipment, in collaboration with process and facilities teams.
- Analyze FTIR data and prepare comprehensive DRE measurement reports.
- Present findings and insights to the Emissions Analysis Leadership Team, supporting data-driven recommendations for emissions reduction.
- Conduct maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of FTIR and other analytical instruments in collaboration with equipment suppliers.
- Ensure data accuracy, validation, and compliance with internal and industry standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, facilities, and sustainability teams to support emissions monitoring and improvement initiatives.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with FTIR and/or other spectroscopy technologies.
Skills & Professional Requirements
- Strong expertise in FTIR data analysis or similar analytical instrumentation.
- Proficiency in data validation, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with macro writing or automation tools is an advantage.
- Familiarity with IPCC 2019 Tier 2c methodology and U.S. EPA DRE measurement protocols is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot analytical equipment.
- Effective communication skills for presenting technical data to stakeholders.
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in cleanroom environments for extended periods (up to 8 hours) during DRE measurement activities.
- Required to handle and transport mobile measurement equipment in coordination with facilities teams.
- Frequent collaboration and coordination with cross-functional teams on-site.
- Hands-on involvement in equipment setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
Additional Responsibilities
- A chemistry and materials characterization technical expert for Technology Development and Manufacturing teams.
- Performs routine and complex analyses using advanced chemical and material knowledge, established analytical methods and major techniques.
- Performs analyses on incoming materials and develops and performs new methods for chemical analysis and characterization of semiconductor materials, in accordance with Materials Quality specifications, for the development or improvement of new or existing semiconductor products.
- Develops and implements new analytical methods and procedures to ensure that a consistent scientific method is utilized in the manufacturing environments.
- Conducts qualitative and quantitative analyses and interprets and provides results to customers.
- Ensures accurate evaluation, interpretation and verification of semiconductor materials data including data for samples, calibration, and quality control.
- Required to comply with, and understand, lab safety standards, including performing work in accordance with Hazardous Materials protocols.
- May drive improvements in process and/or equipment and instrumentation changes.
- May also interpret results of new or modified processes and determine the impact of laboratory or production capability or capacity.
