Role Overview
J Goodwin & Co (Singapore) is seeking an Analyst to support our merchant banking and advisory activities across technology, media, consumer, and emerging sectors. The role combines classic analytical work (research, modelling, materials, transaction support) with the opportunity to work closely with the firm's AI‑enabled tooling and internal agentic architecture.
While J Goodwin & Co is headquartered in London, this role is based in Singapore and will involve working closely with colleagues across our global platform to serve clients throughout Asia and internationally. This is a great opportunity to grow with the firm and develop a fundamental skill‑set across corporate finance, sector analysis, transaction execution, and AI‑enabled optimisation of workflows and decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct company, sector, and market research using public sources, databases, and internal materials, and synthesise findings into concise outputs for deal teams.
- Assist in building and maintaining financial models (historical performance, valuation, scenario analysis) under the guidance of senior team members.
- Support preparation of client materials and internal presentations, including pitch books, process documents, and transaction analyses.
- Help build, maintain, and monitor the firm's internal agentic AI solution and architecture, including logging issues, tracking performance, and coordinating with senior technical colleagues and vendors on fixes and enhancements.
- Perform basic checks on AI‑generated outputs (accuracy, completeness, tone) and flag anomalies or potential risks for review, contributing to guardrails and quality standards.
- Document common use cases, user feedback, and improvement ideas to support continuous refinement of our AI tools and workflows.
- Provide day‑to‑day assistance with transaction management, including process tracking, preparation and coordination of documentation, liaising with counterparties and advisers, and maintaining high‑quality deal files and data rooms.
- Support transaction execution activities, including running workstreams under supervision, preparing timetables and checklists, tracking conditions precedent and deliverables, and helping to resolve execution issues as they arise.
- Monitor relevant news-flow and market developments for priority clients and sectors, preparing short briefing notes and updates.
- Help coordinate information and data requests during live transactions (M&A, capital raising, strategic advisory).
- Use internal knowledge bases, data rooms, and collaboration tools to ensure information is well‑organised and accessible.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, STEM, or a related discipline with strong analytical content. / Post-Graduate degree preferred but not essential
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in corporate finance, investment banking, asset management, or the legal sector (e.g. corporate / transactions), with exposure to analytical and/or transaction work.
- Transaction execution experience (e.g. involvement in live M&A, capital raising, or financing transactions, or corporate/commercial deals) is preferred.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including understanding of financial statements and core valuation concepts.
- High level of proficiency and Tech literacy in Excel modelling, PowerPoint and comfortable using modern SaaS / analytics platforms such as Pitchbook, CapIQ, Affinity etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, well‑structured documents under time pressure.
- Curious, proactive mindset and comfort working in a small, entrepreneurial merchant‑banking team focused on high‑growth sectors.
AI / Technology Expectations:
- Hands‑on experience using AI tools in a professional or academic context tools (e.g. LLM based research assistants, internal agents, summarisation tools) to accelerate research, drafting, and data wrangling, while exercising sound judgement and fact checking). This includes basic ability to structure prompts, evaluate AI‑generated outputs, and suggest improvements to internal AI workflows.
- Familiarity with, or interest in, agentic AI concepts (tool-calling, workflows, retrieval-augmented generation) and willingness to provide user feedback to improve internal AI products.
- Any exposure to Python or SQL is a plus but not a requirement.
- Knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following sectors is preferred but not essential: Media, Crypto, AI, Deep-Tech, luxury/Consumer.

- Location: Singapore – office based 5 days a week.
