Roles and Responsibilities As Aircon Supervisor
The Aircon Supervisor oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation (ACMV) systems. This role is responsible for supervising technicians, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining service standards, and coordinating on-site work to meet project timelines and client requirements.
HVAC Operations & Maintenance:
- Supervise daily operations and maintenance of air conditioning systems.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to minimise breakdowns and system downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify performance issues, inefficiencies, or faults in HVAC systems.
- Ensure timely repairs and system servicing to maintain optimal indoor air quality and thermal comfort.
Team Supervision:
- Lead, guide, and train a team of HVAC technicians and junior staff.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure completion within timelines and standards.
- Monitor technician performance and enforce safety practices and quality workmanship.
- Support manpower planning and ensure adequate staffing for maintenance or project activities.
Vendor & Project Coordination:
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants for installation, servicing, and maintenance work.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is completed according to specifications and standards.
- Coordinate project schedules and progress to meet deadlines without disrupting client operations.
- Manage site inspections and handovers for completed HVAC works.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all HVAC works comply with safety regulations, environmental codes, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct toolbox meetings and enforce the use of PPE and safety procedures on-site.
- Participate in risk assessments and support audits related to HVAC maintenance and installation.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, service reports, inspections, and equipment history.
- Prepare daily or weekly reports on maintenance activities, system issues, and corrective actions.
- Assist in budgeting for HVAC-related materials, tools, and outsourcing costs.
- Ensure compliance documentation and permits are up to date and filed appropriately.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as the point of contact for clients regarding HVAC-related issues or service requests.
- Attend to breakdowns or urgent repairs promptly and professionally.
- Provide technical advice or recommendations to improve HVAC system performance or energy efficiency.
- Coordinate with other departments or teams to support operational needs and ensure smooth workflow.
Other Duties:
- Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Higher Nitec in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC/Refrigeration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-5 years in aircon servicing/repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead-technician role.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and electrical circuit diagrams.
- Expertise in refrigerant handling and pressure testing.
- Familiarity with smart HVAC controllers and BMS (Building Management Systems) is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving mindset, and the ability to handle customer complaints professionally.
- Able to work independently and attend site meetings as required.
