About the Digital Education Council:
The Digital Education Council (DEC) is a global community of practice of institutions spanning six continents. The Council is committed to driving sustainable innovation and AI adoption in Education and Workforce Development. Member institutions of the Digital Education Council represent a globally diverse and strategically balanced mix of research universities, business schools, polytechnics, liberal arts colleges, and community colleges.
Collectively, they serve over 3 million students and employ more than 350,000 faculty and staff from a wide range of disciplines, making DEC one of the most globally representative alliances in education. DEC now counts over 190 member institutions.
The Job: AI-native technical role
You'll be a force multiplier for the whole organisation, building the AI-powered systems DEC runs on and finding new places where AI can make the company better.
You will develop with AI as your daily instrument. You will own and extend the internal platforms at the heart of how we operate and hunt for practical, creative uses of AI across everything DEC does. This is a rare shape of role for someone early in their career: one builder, the whole stack, direct access to leadership, and a front-row seat to how a global education organisation actually operates.
What you will do:
- Own the development of DEC's internal systems end to end: features, fixes, data and integrations — using AI coding tools daily and critically reviewing everything before it ships
- Run the infrastructure and keep our platforms trustworthy: security, access, backups and the care that member data demands
- Prototype new AI applications across the organisation: spot the opportunity, build the proof, show the team, and turn what works into how we operate
- Work directly with leadership on the organisation's most important priorities, translating business problems into systems that solve them
- Document as you go, so we can rely on structured processes and documentation
Who we are looking for:
- A recent or imminent graduate of a Singapore university or polytechnic in computer science, software engineering, information systems or similar
- Already building with AI tools: you can show us something real you have made, and talk honestly about where the AI was wrong and how you caught it
- Solid technical foundations, with the curiosity to learn whatever the problem requires
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and SQL; React and Docker experience an advantage
- Genuinely detail-oriented: you notice things that does not reconcile, and you cannot let it go
- High energy and a great attitude: you want responsibility early, you follow through, and you would rather build something unique than be a small cog somewhere large
- Clear written English: your work will be read by non-engineers
- Singapore based with the right to work in Singapore
Why apply for this role
- Own real production systems from day one, with direct access to leadership and visible impact across the organisation
- Work at the front edge of AI: not just studying it but building with it daily
- Join a fast-growing, mission-driven organisation as it scales its impact globally
