Job Description

About the role

As AI Strategy & Operations Director, you will serve as the strategic and operational backbone of the CAIO organisation. You will ensure that our AI initiatives remain focused on delivering measurable user and business value, move forward effectively, and operate as a coordinated portfolio.

You will work closely with track leads and initiative owners to shape priorities, strengthen execution, and give leadership a clear view of progress, impact, risks, and decisions required. You will also independently lead emerging initiatives until they are mature enough to transition to a permanent owner.

What you will do

Own the value agenda across every AI track, platform, and the central orchestration layer-the heart of this role.

  • Coach track leads on user- and value-centric ways of working.
  • Own the user feedback loop: gather feedback, synthesise insights, and translate them into direction.
  • Build impact estimates to size the opportunity before investments are made.
  • Drive prioritisation through a rigorous value lens, championing high-impact opportunities and deprioritising lower-value activity.

Drive every AI initiative within the CAIO organisation forward.

  • Maintain the master view across initiatives, advise initiative owners, resolve dependencies, and ensure delivery does not stall.

Lead emerging and cross-functional initiatives with an entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Independently take initiatives-such as the AI governance framework and client AI sales playbook-from concept through execution, then transition them cleanly to the appropriate owner once mature.

Turn complex information into clear direction for leadership.

  • Consolidate progress, risks, and escalations across tracks into concise, decision-ready reporting for the CAIO.

Coordinate roadmaps and sprint plans across tracks, aligning dependencies and preventing duplication of effort.

What you will bring

  • 8-10+ years in strategy, business operations, transformation, product management, or management consulting, with experience driving complex cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills, including building business cases, estimating impact, tracking value, and prioritising investments.
  • Proven ability to translate user needs and business challenges into clear strategies, roadmaps, and delivery plans.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with experience taking ambiguous or early-stage initiatives from concept through execution and handover.
  • Strong programme management skills, with experience coordinating multiple workstreams, roadmaps, sprint plans, and dependencies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills comfortable advising senior leaders and working across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong interest in AI and its practical application to business transformation.
  • Bonus: hands-on experience with AI products, governance, gaming, or creative production environments.
