AI Strategy & Governance Lead - AI Lab
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated AI Strategy & Governance Lead, a senior leadership role within the AI Lab, accountable for shaping and driving the enterprise AI strategy while ensuring robust governance, ethical use, and regulatory compliance of AI initiatives.
This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, AI innovation, and governance, partnering closely with senior business leaders, the AI Lab delivery teams, data & technology functions, and governance bodies. The incumbent will ensure that AI investments deliver measurable business value while being safe, trusted, and compliant from ideation through production.
Key Responsibilities:
1. AI Strategy & MultiYear Roadmap
- Define, own, and continuously evolve the enterprise AI strategy and multiyear roadmap, aligned to overall business strategy and transformation priorities.
- Identify, assess, and prioritise AI and GenAI use cases across customer, agent, and operational journeys, balancing value, feasibility, scalability, and risk.
- Translate strategic business challenges into clear AI opportunities, success metrics, and outcomebased KPIs.
- Provide thought leadership on where and how AI should be deployed to drive growth, efficiency, and differentiated customer experience.
2. Business & Senior Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with senior business leaders to embed AI into strategic initiatives and largescale transformation programmes.
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on AI capabilities, limitations, and tradeoffs, enabling informed decisionmaking.
- Facilitate alignment across business units, AI Lab, data, technology, risk, legal, and compliance teams.
- Communicate AI strategy, progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to executive and governance forums.
3. AI Use Case Governance & Lifecycle Oversight
- Establish and maintain AI usecase intake, prioritisation, and stagegating frameworks, from experimentation through production and scaling.
- Ensure AI initiatives comply with Responsible AI principles, internal governance policies, data privacy requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Embed ethical considerations into the AI Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from design to deployment.
- Serve as the key liaison with AI Governance Working Groups and relevant risk committees, providing regular updates on AI systems and issues.
- Lead or oversee retrospective reviews of deployed AI systems to identify governance gaps, ethical risks, and improvement opportunities.
4. Value Realisation & Performance Management
- Define standards for benefits tracking, adoption measurement, and value realisation of AI initiatives.
- Partner with business and finance teams to evaluate and report on the financial and nonfinancial value delivered by AI solutions.
- Monitor performance, drift, and risk indicators of deployed AI systems and ensure timely remediation.
5. Enterprise AI Capability & Ecosystem Building
- Contribute to building enterprisewide AI capabilities, including platforms, tooling, operating models, and delivery standards.
- Support AI literacy, change management, and adoption across business and functional teams.
- Monitor external AI technology, GenAI trends, and regulatory developments, translating insights into strategic and governance updates.
- Foster a strong culture of ethical, responsible, and valuedriven AI within the AI Lab and broader organisation.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 8-10+ years of experience in strategy, digital transformation, data, AI, analytics, or technologyenabled business roles.
- Proven experience defining and driving enterpriselevel or businessunitlevel AI / advanced analytics strategies.
- Strong track record working with crossfunctional teams in complex, regulated environments (e.g. financial services, insurance, telecommunications, healthcare).
- Experience operating at Senior Manager / Associate Director level with exposure to executive stakeholders.
- Handson AI engineering experience is not required, but experience overseeing AI delivery and outcomes is essential.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, including Generative AI, and their practical business applications.
- Deep appreciation of AI governance, ethics, model risk, and data privacy considerations.
- Ability to balance innovation and speed with risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills at senior levels.
- Structured problemsolving, strategic thinking, and strong focus on business outcomes and value creation.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and shaping new operating models.
