Job Purpose
The role holder is responsible for delivering classroom instruction that helps students learn and excel, while developing students abilities and interests through creative and engaging activities.
Functional Responsibilities
- Plan the curriculum for the year for the respective grade.
- Develop lesson plans in accordance with the curriculum guidelines and present them to the Academic Coordinators for approval.
- Review feedback from the Academic Coordinators and revise lesson plans accordingly.
- Keep up to date with the latest teaching aids, including the use of technology in classroom learning, and integrate these into the teaching process.
- Create challenging and engaging learning opportunities for students and foster a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Develop worksheets, handouts, and other learning materials in line with the lesson plans and curriculum, as well as assessments and examinations.
- Ensure the timely marking and correction of assignments completed by students.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and performance of students.
- Identify students who may require additional academic or non-academic support and ensure they receive the necessary assistance.
- Contribute to extra-curricular activities and participate in school activities such as assemblies, meetings, and conferences.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Interaction
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to share ideas, teaching approaches, content, and professional knowledge.
- Communicate and provide feedback to parents during Parent-Teacher Meetings and whenever necessary.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree and Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant discipline, or an equivalent qualification.
- TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certification.
- 1+ year of teaching experience, preferably with exposure to teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and supporting multilingual learners.
