Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver effective lessons for GCE O Level Mathematics and Additional Mathematics in accordance with the prescribed syllabus.
- Develop Schemes of Work (SOW), lesson plans, and teaching resources to support student learning.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Integrate technology and interactive teaching methods to enhance classroom engagement.
2. Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring
- Design and administer assignments, quizzes, tests, and examinations.
- Mark and evaluate students work in a timely manner.
- Provide constructive feedback to support students academic improvement.
- Monitor and record students academic progress.
3. Student Support and Academic Development
- Provide academic guidance and consultation to students when necessary.
- Conduct remedial or enrichment sessions to support diverse learning needs.
- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and strong mathematical reasoning.
4. Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement classroom management strategies that support effective learning.
5. Curriculum and Academic Contribution
- Participate in curriculum development and review of teaching materials.
- Contribute to the preparation of internal examination papers and academic resources.
- Collaborate with academic staff in improving teaching strategies and learning outcomes.
6. Administrative and Institutional Duties
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment results, and student performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and institutional events.
- Communicate effectively with academic management regarding students progress and academic matters.
Qualifications and Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or teaching qualification will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience in secondary mathematics is preferred.
- Experience teaching GCE O Level Mathematics and Additional Mathematics will be an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong subject knowledge in mathematics, including algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong classroom management abilities.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
