Liberty APAC Actuarial and Data Science (ADSS) team provides ADSS capabilities that include Pricing, Enablement, Legal Entity/Regulatory analysis (including Appointed/Certifying Actuary responsibilities), Data Science and US GAAP Reserving.
The Actuary / Actuarial Manager is the signing Actuary for China entity regulatory reporting purposes covering both Retail and Specialty products. The Actuary /Actuarial Manager has extensive detailed understanding of the regulatory and market environment in China, Singapore & Hong Kong. The Actuary / Actuarial Manager delivers effective financial condition & capital feedback /projection loop with key stakeholders, including the impact of the China capital impact of reinsurance treaties.
The Actuary / Actuarial Manager provides technical and administrative support independently with limited direction across one or multiple ADSS capabilities provided by the LII APAC ADSS team. Overseeing multiple complex workstreams concurrently and leading a team where relevant.
As part of the APAC Actuarial and Data Science team, the role will contribute to the unified actuarial and data science community that will enable connectivity and shared insights while maintaining positive momentum in delivering on the GRS shared objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Signing Actuary for the China legal entity, ensuring timely and accurate regulatory reporting and compliance.
- Coordinate actuarial planning and analysis for all products across the Asia Pacific region.
- Design, implement and continuously improve the actuarial framework, processes and governance used for planning, pricing and portfolio monitoring.
- Provide rigorous, evidence based challenge to business stakeholders and actuarial colleagues on assumptions, selection choices and modelling approaches.
- Strengthen feedback loops between loss experience, pricing assumptions and planning outcomes to support sustainable profitability and better decision making.
- Lead development of data capture, analytics and tooling to improve loss ratio insight, consistency of planning inputs and usability of actuarial outputs.
- Support the Senior Actuary with actuarial oversight of Energy, Construction and Property portfolios across Asia Pacific, providing technical input and review.
- Deliver integrated portfolio analysis and commercial insights that combine actuarial, underwriting and business perspectives to drive profitable growth.
- Provide actuarial insight and challenge into pricing and risk selection decisions for assigned portfolios, ensuring recommendations are robust, defensible and data driven.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry practice and emerging risks across the China, Singapore and Hong Kong markets represent actuarial perspective in cross functionalforums.
- Lead multiple, complex project work streams and ensures strategic fit to objectives. Deliver complex actuarial analysis with clear recommendations and concise documentation of reconciliations, methods and activities.
- Lead execution, resources and timelines of project work. Provide tactical input to project work, as necessary.
- Present project work questions, findings and results to peers and leaders across the business unit explaining key areas of focus effectively.
- Develop polished and professional report-outs for senior leaders and peers summarizing results and highlighting support for critical changes.
- Inform leadership of noteworthy changes and leading indicators arising from key projects for assigned areas of expertise.
- Delivers work independently with a focus on building efficient, high quality and repeatable tools, processes and systems.
- Identify organizational and technical opportunities for innovation that have tactical and strategic impact. Provide direction for creative and strategic problem solving.
- Research laws and regulations Analyse developments in the marketplace. Represent the Company on industry and professional committees where relevant.
- Develop and nurture ADSS talent and drive improvement in the overall technical ADSS capability of the business.
- Where relevant, work with direct reports to identify strengths and development needs, regularly providing coaching and discussing progress on development plans and encouraging career development activities.
- Work with team to create an environment that is inclusive and collaborative.
- Motivate team to perform well against key performance indicators and meet team goals/objectives.
- Support efforts to build ADSS capabilities, partnering with ADSS peers across GRS to define, champion, and execute continuous improvement efforts, tailoring to meet the unique needs of the business.
- Collaborate with Actuarial peers to ensure consistency of relevant actuarial approaches and assumptions, adherence to best practices.
- Performing other related duties as assigned byyour manager or other appropriate officer.

Experience & Qualification Requirements:
- Fellowship of actuarial society recognized inChina is a prerequisite (IFOA, FCAS, etc)
- 3+ years post qualification experience and 8+years relevant experience in the insurance industry.
- Deep knowledge of China regulatory and market environment is a prerequisite.
- Strong knowledge of insurance operations and ability to engage with multi-functional teams.
- Experience delivering work both independently and with cross functional teams, focusing on building efficient, high quality and repeatable tools, processes and systems is a prerequisite.
- Experience designing and delivering digital solutions (e.g. actuarial analysis/process improvements in Python) is a prerequisite.
- Significant previous experience working on Energy, Construction and Property portfolios.
- Previous experience managing high performing teams and leading teams through change.
- Expert knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, insurance lines and markets.
- Strong knowledge of insurance operations and ability to engage with multi-functional teams.
