Job Summary
Manage inventory control, fixed assets, and general accounting tasks to ensure accurate financial records and support audit processes. Collaborate with finance teams and contribute to finance-related projects.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the accounting/ERP system to ensure data integrity
- Perform monthly inventory reconciliation by comparing system records with physical cycle counts to identify discrepancies
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies to maintain accurate stock levels
- Monitor stock movements including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and write-offs to track inventory flow
- Review and verify costing using weighted average cost method to ensure cost accuracy
- Support weekly, monthly, and yearly stock take exercises to validate physical inventory
- Maintain fixed asset register with proper classification to ensure accurate asset tracking
- Process asset additions, disposals, transfers, and write-offs to keep asset records current
- Conduct periodic physical verification of fixed assets to confirm asset existence and condition
- Reconcile fixed asset register to the General Ledger to ensure accounting accuracy
- Ensure proper documentation for capital expenditure (CAPEX) to support financial controls
- Support annual audit by preparing fixed asset schedules and providing supporting documents
- Prepare journal entries related to inventory and fixed assets to maintain accurate accounting records
- Assist in month-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting
- Assist in preparing schedules for audit and tax purposes to facilitate compliance
- Support financial reporting and analysis as required to aid decision-making
- Assist in finance-related projects to improve processes and controls
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager to support finance operations
- Provide cross-support to other finance functions when required to ensure team effectiveness
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Diploma in accounting or its equivalent to provide foundational accounting knowledge
- Relevant experience to effectively perform inventory and accounting duties
- Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
- Ability to communicate with business partners to facilitate smooth interactions
