Core Responsibilities
1. Tax Strategy & Optimization
- Analyse monthly Group P&L and balance sheet to identify tax-saving opportunities.
- Develop and implement tax-efficient structures (e.g., holding companies, deductions, incentives).
- Advise on strategies to minimize corporate tax, GST/VAT, withholding tax, and transfer pricing risks.
- Lead tax planning initiatives to optimize the Group's effective tax rate.
2. Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate income tax returns, GST/VAT filings, transfer pricing documentation (local and cross-border).
- Compute Companies Estimate Tax payable, Form C-S and filing.
- Oversee director's personal tax submissions in Singapore.
- Review tax provisioning and ensure alignment with financial reporting (SFRS/IFRS).
3. Tax Audits & Dispute Resolution
- Act as the primary liaison with tax authorities (IRAS, IRB, etc.) for audits and inquiries.
- Manage tax disputes, appeals, and penalty abatement processes.
- Coordinate with external advisors/auditors on defensive tax positions.
4. Financial Statement Review (Tax Focus)
- Analyse monthly/quarterly P&L and balance sheet to identify tax risks (e.g., disallowed expenses, incorrect provisioning and align accounting treatments with tax regulations (e.g., depreciation, capital vs. revenue expenses).
- Review deferred tax assets/liabilities and ensure proper disclosures in financial statements.
5. Business & Transaction Advisory
- Advise on tax implications for new business setups (local and overseas entities), M&A, restructuring, dividends, and capital transactions.
- Support applications for tax incentives (e.g., R&D credits, pioneer status).
- Assess transfer pricing policies for intercompany transactions.
6. Compliance & Regulatory Updates
- Monitor changes in Singapore/Malaysia tax laws and update management on impacts.
- Implement process improvements to strengthen tax compliance.
Job Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Tax.
- Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CTIM, or MICPA) preferred.
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years in tax advisory/compliance, preferably in a group/multinational setting.
- Expertise in Singapore & Malaysia tax laws (corporate tax, GST, transfer pricing).
- Strong knowledge of SFRS/IFRS and financial statement analysis.
- Experience in tax audits and dealing with authorities (IRAS, IRB).
- Construction/audit industry experience (advantageous).
