Job summary:
Supervise general ledger recording, closing of accounts and financial reports preparation, including the implementation of processes and internal controls to ensure governance over the accounting function
General responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of accounting processes and strong internal controls to ensure governance over accounting and reporting activities
- Supervise and coordinate the timely and accurate recording of general ledger entries, including month-end and year-end closing activities in accordance with local/international accounting standards
- Support the preparation of accounts analyses and reconciliations to ensure variances and reconciling items are identified and resolved in a timely manner
- Support the preparation of financial budgets/forecasts. Document and investigate monthly and yearly budget-to-actual variances to ensure these are accounted for
- Support the preparation of financial reports (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow statements, etc.) for presentation to senior management. Prepare supporting analyses to the financial reports
- Coordinate and execute the continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the timeliness, accuracy and quality of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
- Tax computation and GST submission to Tax authorities and ensure all tax regulations and principles are applied.
- Work closely with the relevant internal stakeholders to ensure efficient month-end and year-end closing activities
- Provide support and information to external auditors to facilitate the auditing process and statutory financial reporting
Functional skills and knowledge:
- Demonstrate good working knowledge and understanding of the business and industry
- Demonstrate good working knowledge and application of local/international accounting standards, principles and practices
- Proven hands-on experience in SAP accounting applications is an advantage
- Demonstrate advanced research and analytical skills
- Demonstrate proficiencies in office productivity tools (e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrate fluency in local language and ideally in English, both written and spoken
- Demonstrate good tax knowledge and IFRS accounting standards.
Soft skills:
- Strong system and data analytic background
- SAP experience
Education:
- Degree or professional qualification in Accounting/Finance or a related discipline
Work experience:
- Minimum two to five years experience in a similar role
