Job Summary
The Accountant in Operational Finance manages daily financial activities, ensures accurate reporting, maintains internal controls, and supports operational teams with financial insights to enhance efficiency, cost control, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger to ensure accurate financial records
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to support business decision-making
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to maintain data accuracy
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of financial periods to meet reporting deadlines
- Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts to guide financial planning
- Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and analyse variances to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Support cost control initiatives across departments to optimize expenditure
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards such as IFRS and GAAP, and adhere to company policies
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard assets and improve processes
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and reports
- Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and recommend improvements to increase operational effectiveness
- Support automation initiatives and ERP system enhancements to streamline financial workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial and operational processes
- Partner with operations teams to provide financial insights that inform strategic decision-making
- Analyse cost drivers and operational performance metrics to support business objectives
- Support inventory accounting, procurement, and expense management activities as needed
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in managing full set of accounts
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) certification
