Job Description

Job Summary

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the firm's financial operations, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely reporting, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards. This role includes a variety of tasks such as maintaining financial records, preparing reports, supporting audits, and assisting with various finance-related projects. The firm's core investment markets are global developed markets. The Accountant will therefore frequently coordinate across North American, European, and Singapore time zones, particularly around reporting cycles and audit deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy
  • Organize and maintain financial files both online and offline for easy retrieval and compliance
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to support management decision-making and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with external auditors by preparing audit materials and facilitating audit processes
  • Assist with tax filings and ensure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements
  • Support compliance activities by maintaining documentation for MAS regulatory standards and aiding internal compliance reviews
  • Manage office budget, including petty cash and expense tracking, ensuring proper documentation and approvals are obtained
  • Reconcile expense reports, invoices, and vendor payments to maintain accurate financial records
  • Collaborate with colleagues across North American, European, and Singapore time zones to support fund and portfolio-level financial reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements in financial workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide additional financial and administrative support including research and ad hoc reporting as needed

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CA are a plus
  • Experience in Big 4 audit or accounting firms is a strong advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel
  • Familiarity with accounting software is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate and report
  • Excellent time management skills to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail applied in financial recordkeeping and reporting
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address financial discrepancies and process issues
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
