Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Full-Cycle Accounting & Daily Operations: Oversee daily billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, disbursements, General Ledger, and process daily bank payments and receipts.
  • Client Account Management & Compliance: Ensure strict daily maintenance of client ledgers and absolute segregation of client and firm funds. Execute monthly bank reconciliations in strict compliance with local regulations.
  • Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and trial balances. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and management analysis.
  • Audit, Tax & Payroll Execution: Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure full compliance with statutory requirements. Process monthly payroll and handle annual employer tax return filings.
  • Internal Controls & Cash Flow: Monitor cash flow, enforce financial internal control policies established by the head office, and generate regular AR aging/WIP reports to enforce credit control with practice teams.
  • Cross-Border Collaboration: Act as the primary financial liaison, working closely with local practice groups, the administrative team, and Regional/Head Offices to ensure smooth financial operations.

Qualifications


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Industry Experience: 3 to 5 years of solid experience managing full-set accounts within a law firm. Experience within a Foreign Law Practice is highly preferred.
  • Regulatory & Client Account Expertise: Deep, practical knowledge of local regulations governing law firm financial operations. Must have proven, hands-on experience in client account bookkeeping, fund segregation, and disbursement control.
  • Technical Accounting Skills: Extensive, hands-on experience in law firm billing, AR/AP management, WIP, and generating age-analysis reports for credit control. Familiarity with local statutory audits, GST, Corporate Tax, and payroll processing.
  • Soft Skills & Ethics: High sense of responsibility, strict ethical standards, and strong ownership over financial data accuracy and deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across local and international offices.
