Job summary
An Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting the organization's financial health. This role involves preparing financial statements, maintaining general ledgers, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Accountants analyze financial data, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and provide insights to support business decision-making.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proficient in accounting software, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Job Scope
1. Financial Accounting
- Handle full set of accounts (AP, AR, GL)
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements
- Maintain proper accounting records and documentation
- Perform bank reconciliation and balance sheet schedules
- Monitor cash flow and company expenses
2. Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process supplier invoices and payments
- Prepare payment vouchers and cheques
- Monitor creditor aging report
- Ensure timely payments to suppliers
3. Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Issue invoices and official receipts
- Monitor debtor aging report
- Follow up on outstanding payments
- Record customer payments
4. Payroll & Claims
- Prepare staff payroll
- Calculate commission, overtime, CPF
- Handle staff claims and reimbursements
- Submit payroll reports
5. Tax & Compliance
- Prepare GST submission
- Handle corporate tax computation
- Liaise with external auditor and tax agent
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
6. Budget & Reporting
- Assist in annual budget preparation
- Prepare financial analysis and management reports
- Monitor budget vs actual performance
- Provide financial advice to management
7. Inventory & Cost Control (if applicable)
- Monitor stock value
- Perform stock reconciliation
- Calculate product costing and profit margin
8. Administrative Support
- Maintain proper filing system
- Assist in audit documentation
- Support management in financial decision-making
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Accountancy, Taxation, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification)
- Minimum 3 years full-set accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulatory compliance
- High level of accuracy, independence, and efficiency in work
- Excellent time management and adaptability in dynamic environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative team player with good communication skills
- Responsible, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in MYOB Accounting Software
- Experience in retail/F&B/beauty industry is an advantage
