Job Summary: The Accountant is responsible for managing the company's financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis. The role also covers inventory control and asset management, ensuring that resources are properly tracked, utilized, and safeguarded.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process invoices, payments, collections, and reconciliations.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up with vendors and clients.
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and file GST, corporate tax, and other statutory submissions.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and regulators.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Provide variance analysis against budget and recommend corrective actions.
Inventory Control & Asset Management
- Monitor, record, and reconcile inventory transactions.
- Implement inventory controls to minimize discrepancies, shrinkage, or loss.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and track asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure proper usage and safeguarding of company assets.
Internal Controls & Process Improvements
- Implement and maintain financial and operational controls.
- Ensure accurate documentation and filing of accounting records.
- Recommend process enhancements for efficiency and accuracy.
Collaboration & Support
- Support HR with payroll reconciliations and related accounting.
- Provide financial insights to management for strategic decisions.
- Partner with operations and procurement teams to ensure proper resource utilization.
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience as an Accountant, with the capability to establish and set up a new business.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, SAP, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in inventory management and fixed asset control preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
