Job Description

ACCOUNTANT

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant is responsible for the financial accounting, statutory compliance and treasury activities of the Corporate Office. The role supports accurate financial reporting, effective cash management, compliance with regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of finance processes to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including full sets of accounts, in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and financial analysis. Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and supported.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting transactions, including AP/AR and invoicing.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and supporting schedules for management reporting.
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, including asset capitalisation, depreciation and disposals.

Taxation& Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare and coordinate GST, withholding tax (WHT), transfer pricing, corporate tax schedules and statutory filings.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, IRAS and other regulatory authorities during statutory audits and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal finance policies.

Treasury& Cash Management

  • Monitor daily cash balances and prepare cash flow forecasts to support liquidity planning.
  • Support centralised treasury activities, including foreign exchange transactions, fixed deposits, loans and banking facilities.
  • Obtain quotations from banks for foreign exchange transactions, financing arrangements and investment products.
  • Liaise with banks on treasury-related matters, banking documentation and account administration.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and ensure timely execution of vendor payments and other banking transactions.
  • Timely update of loan schedules and follow up of overdue loans.

Budgeting& Financial Analysis

  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Analyse financial performance against budget and prior periods, identifying significant variances and trends.
  • Provide financial information and analysis to support management decision-making.

Finance Process Improvement

  • Review existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls and reduce manual work.
  • Support finance digitalisation initiatives, including ERP enhancements, workflow automation and reporting improvements.
  • Utilise digital tools and AI-enabled productivity solutions to improve reporting, documentation and analysis.

Stakeholder Support

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across functions to provide financial support and resolve accounting matters.
  • Build effective working relationships with auditors, tax consultants, bankers and external service providers.

Other Responsibilities

  • Support finance-related projects and undertake other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance or a recognised professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA or CA).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a multinational corporation.
  • Prior audit experience with a public accounting firm will be an advantage.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and Singapore tax and statutory requirements.
  • Experience in preparing full sets of accounts and managing month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Good understanding of treasury operations, cash flow management and banking processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP and Power Query.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Syteline, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent).
  • Experience with IBM Cognos Controller, Power BI or similar reporting tools will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with finance automation tools and AI-enabled productivity solutions (e.g. Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT) will be an advantage.
