Job Summary
This dynamic role combines strategic business development and account management to grow the company's presence in Singapore's shipyard, marine, and offshore sectors. You will leverage metal/steel distribution experience and receive training in the Oil & Gas industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to expand market share in the Singapore shipyard, marine, and offshore sectors
- Manage and nurture key client accounts to build long-term partnerships and drive revenue growth
- Conduct regular site visits to customers, shipyards, and offshore locations to assess needs and identify opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams and the Director of Sales, Asia Pacific, to align sales initiatives with company goals
- Apply metal and steel distribution expertise to tailor solutions that meet client requirements
- Participate in structured training programs to acquire knowledge and skills in the Oil & Gas industry segment
BusinessDevelopment & Regional Sales (Marine Focus)
- Market Expansion: Actively prospect, develop, and secure new business relationships within the Singapore marine, shipyard, and offshore fabrication sectors.
- Relationship Management: Maintain and deepen relationships with existing accounts, maximizing sales profitability and market share for steel/metal products.
- Target Achievement: Consistently achieve invoice and booking numbers, meeting or exceeding sales and gross margin targets established in coordination with the Director of Sales, Asia Pacific.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor competitors and keep up to date on current market trends, pricing strategies, lead times, and upcoming projects in the maritime sector.
Cross-Training& Competency Development (Oil & Gas)
- Technical Upskilling: Participate in a structured internal training program to gain deep technical knowledge of specialized steel grades, strict quality standards, and customer requirements unique to the Oil & Gas industry.
- Cross-Sector Cultivation: Shadow senior team members on Oil & Gas accounts to transition into a dual-sector Account Manager capable of handling both Marine and Energy portfolios.
CommercialOperations & Reporting
- Inquiry Handling: Respond to customer inquiries with accurate technical proposals, pricing, and delivery timelines in a timely manner.
- Order Management: Receive, enter, review contracts, and manage customer orders through the internal ERP system (Stratix).
- Reporting: Provide management with clear oral and written reports regarding customer needs, competitive threats, market shifts, and new product/service opportunities.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate customer complaints promptly, developing mutually beneficial resolutions to maintain high satisfaction and trust.

- Sales Grit & Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong focus on proactive customer responsiveness and negotiation.
- Agility: Proven ability to handle multiple inquiries, project timelines, and shifting priorities in a fast-paced commercial environment.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to quickly absorb complex technical specifications related to steel metallurgy, testing requirements, and energy industry standards.
- Cultural Competence: Must be comfortable and effective working with coworkers and customers from diverse backgrounds, engineering teams, and corporate cultures.
WORKENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Base: Office-based position with frequent off-site travel to shipyards, fabrication shops, and customer offices.
- Environment: Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers and communication tools.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to walk short to moderate distances during shipyard visits and safely navigate industrial site environments (wearing appropriate PPE).
