Overall Function

The Sales Account Executive supports the growth of the merchant acquiring business by acquiring and managing small to mid-sized merchants. This role focuses on driving merchant sign-ups, ensuring successful activation, and maintaining good merchant relationships to support transaction growth and retention.

Working closely with Sales Account Managers and internal teams, the Executive helps expand the company's acceptance network and ensures that every merchant enjoys seamless onboarding and payment experience.

Key Responsibilities

Merchant Acquisition & Activation

  • Prospect, engage, and acquire small to mid-sized merchants across key business segments (e.g. F&B, retail, services).
  • Explain product features, pricing, and acceptance options (POS, QR, or online payment).
  • Manage end-to-end merchant onboarding including document collection, verification, and submission for approval.
  • Ensure timely activation and follow-up to drive early transaction usage.

Portfolio & Relationship Management

  • Maintain relationships with assigned merchants to ensure ongoing engagement and satisfaction.
  • Provide basic training and guidance on transaction processes, terminal usage, and issue resolution.
  • Identify inactive merchants and implement reactivation or retention efforts.
  • Escalate complex issues to Account Managers or Operations teams when required.

Sales Performance & Reporting

  • Achieve monthly sales and activation targets as set by management.
  • Track daily sales performance, leads, and conversion rates in CRM systems.
  • Support management in preparing sales reports and tracking portfolio performance.

Campaign & Cross-Functional Support

  • Assist in merchant campaigns or promotions to drive usage and visibility.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Business, and Marketing teams to ensure smooth execution of sales initiatives.
  • Gather merchant feedback and market insights to improve sales approaches and product offerings.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all merchant onboarding comply with internal policies, KYC/AML standards, and MAS guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation for every merchant application.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 13 years of experience in sales, merchant acquiring, or customer account servicing (payments or financial services preferred).
  • Prior experience dealing with small business owners, F&B, or retail merchants is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using CRM tools for tracking.
  • Results-driven with the ability to work independently in the field or remotely
