About ASAFA
The Asia Sustainable Aviation Fuel Association (ASAFA) is a Singapore-based non-profit representing the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) sector across Asia-Pacific. Founded in 2024, ASAFA works across policy advocacy, capacity building, and industry education to accelerate SAF adoption in the region.
ASAFA's flagship initiative is the International SAF Professional program - a structured, multi-stage professional development pathway for policymakers, SAF industry newcomers, corporate procurement, sustainability professionals and senior leaders across Asia-Pacific. The programme spans ten modules across three stages: introductory, core, and advanced. The modules, platform setup, and programme operations need to be built out for launch in 2026.
The Role
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable working in a lean, fast-moving team and wants to be close to the build of something new. The bulk of the work is in course design: turning curriculum briefs into structured, well-written learning materials that meet International standards. Alongside that, you will support the operational setup of the academy - helping to get the right systems, processes, and records in place before the first cohort. You will work directly with the Chief Sustainability Officer, contributing to design and carrying execution.
Key Responsibilities
Course Design (primary focus)
- Design and develop the modules from curriculum briefs, following ASAFA's established Module Design Blueprint format
- Write session-level materials including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, case studies, and slide content - to the technical depth and regional specificity the program requires
- Develop formative and summative assessment instruments for each module, aligned to stated learning outcomes
- Build self-paced e-module content for the LMS, including scripts, knowledge checks, and structured pre-reading units
- Conduct or coordinate subject matter expert (SME) review of module content before delivery approval
- Maintain the Curriculum Map and Module Design Blueprints as live documents, updating after each delivery cycle
Learning Design Process and Quality
- Complete Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) records for new modules, drawing on regulatory requirements, industry consultation, and ASAFA's waitlist survey data
- Support compliance with ASAFA's Quality Management System (QMS), including document control, content review records, and post-delivery review reporting
- Assist with preparation of evidence records for compliance and audit
Platform and Operations
- Support evaluation and procurement of the LMS platform, contributing to requirements definition and vendor assessment
- Set up and configure the LMS once selected, including course structure, assessment tracking, and integration with the TMS
- Manage program administration for the first cohort: enrolments, attendance records, assessment submission, and certification tracking
- Maintain ASAFA's document register in SharePoint, ensuring controlled documents are current and correctly versioned
What We're Looking For
Required
- Demonstrated experience in instructional design or curriculum development for professional or technical learning program
- Strong writing ability - able to turn complex technical material into clear, well-structured learning content with support from the latest AI tools such as Articulate 360 AI
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and outcome-based instructional design (formal qualification such as ACLP is an advantage)
- Organized and thorough: comfortable managing multiple document deliverables with version control and structured review processes
- Able to work with minimal supervision, take a brief, and produce a high-quality output without needing close oversight
Advantageous
- Working knowledge of Sustainable Aviation Fuels, aviation sustainability, CORSIA, or adjacent domains (energy transition, carbon markets, aviation policy)
- Experience building or administering an LMS
- Familiarity with Singapore's SkillsFuture accreditation requirements
- Experience supporting grant-funded education or training programs
What You Can Expect
This is a substantive role as you will be directly involved in building one of the first professional SAF training programs in Asia-Pacific, working with senior practitioners from airlines, regulators, and fuel producers across the region. ASAFA is a lean team - you will have real ownership of your workstreams and direct access to leadership.
The role is well-suited to someone with instructional design experience who wants to move into a domain with genuine policy and industry significance, or to a SAF or sustainability professional who has strong writing and design instincts and wants to build something from the ground up.
How to Apply
Include a cover letter and CV to the ASAFA team. In your cover letter, please describe one learning program or course you have designed or contributed to: what the brief was, what you produced, and what you would do differently now.
