Greenwich Analytics Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore-based subsidiary of Greenwich Commodities LLC, a U.S. energy trading and investment management company with operational hubs in Metro Detroit, Michigan, and Metro Denver, Colorado.
Greenwich Commodities specializes in Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) and Day-Ahead/Real-Time (DART) trading in competitive wholesale electricity markets across the United States. We combine quantitative analysis, power-system fundamentals, and market intelligence to identify trading opportunities and contribute to a smart and sustainable energy future.
Our Singapore office provides quantitative research, market analysis, risk evaluation, and technology support for the group's U.S. power-market activities. As the office grows, we also plan to develop capabilities in Asia-Pacific energy markets.
Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Power Trading Analyst to join our Singapore office. The successful candidate will conduct market research and quantitative analysis using our proprietary energy trading platform and support the development and execution of trading strategies in major U.S. power markets, including PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, CAISO and others.
The ideal candidate will have a strong quantitative background, excellent technical skills, sound commercial judgment, and a genuine interest in electricity markets. Because the position supports U.S. trading activities, the candidate must be able to collaborate across time zones and work hours that may periodically overlap with U.S. market hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct data-based research and analysis to support trading decisions in U.S. wholesale electricity markets.
- Use the company's proprietary trading and analytical platforms to evaluate and execute energy trading strategies.
- Analyze power-market fundamentals, including electricity demand, generation availability, fuel prices, transmission constraints, congestion, outages, weather, and regulatory developments.
- Develop, test, and improve quantitative models and trading strategies.
- Identify market trends, pricing anomalies, and potential trading opportunities.
- Perform back-testing, scenario analysis, and performance attribution to evaluate proposed and existing strategies.
- Monitor trading positions, market exposures, and strategy performance.
- Collaborate with traders, quantitative analysts, risk professionals, and technology teams in Singapore and the United States.
- Develop analytical tools, automated processes, reports, and dashboards to improve trading efficiency and decision-making.
- Present research findings and make practical recommendations to improve trading results.
- Maintain accurate research documentation and comply with the company's risk-management and trading-control requirements.
Requirements
- At least one year of relevant professional experience or two years of research experience in energy markets, quantitative trading, power systems, operations research, statistical analysis, or a related field.
- A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, Business Analytics, Financial Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- Strong ability to manage and analyze large and complex datasets and draw objective conclusions supported by data.
- Proficiency in programming and data analysis, preferably using Python and SQL; experience with C or C++ is an advantage.
- Proficiency in using AI-assisted programming, research, and quantitative modeling tools to develop code, test models, automate workflows, and improve productivity.
- Ability to review, validate, and independently verify code, analyses, and model outputs generated with AI-assisted tools.
- Strong knowledge of statistics, optimization, time-series analysis, machine learning, or other quantitative modeling techniques.
- Experience with electricity markets, power-system modeling, energy trading, or transmission analysis is highly desirable but not required.
- Strong analytical judgment, intellectual curiosity, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7 for undergraduate studies and 3.8 for graduate studies, or equivalent academic performance under the applicant's grading system.
- Ability and willingness to coordinate with U.S.-based colleagues and occasionally work outside standard Singapore business hours.
Work Authorization
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Singapore. Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply. Employment Pass sponsorship may be considered for qualified candidates, subject to applicable eligibility requirements and approval by Singapore's Ministry of Manpower.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: S$7,500 to S$12,500 per month, depending on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
- Discretionary Bonus: Performance-based annual bonus.
