Assist the Volunteer Management Branch in managing personnel who will be supporting implementation of a national sustainability initiative.
The initiative aims to:
- Increase the recycling rate of beverage containers and reduce the amount of waste disposed of as well as carbon emissions.
- Raise consumer awareness on the importance of recycling and encourage good recycling practices.
Under this initiative, a refundable deposit applies to selected pre-packaged beverages. Members of the public may return eligible containers at designated return points to receive their deposit refund.
A pool of personnel will be deployed at various return locations to assist members of the public with the return process and provide on-site guidance.
The Officer will manage and coordinate end-to-end personnel recruitment, training, equipping, and deployment functions, alongside administrative duties such as reviewing and endorsing payroll timesheets.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist team in managing personnel deployments, including administrative, training, and logistical support.
- Serve as key liaison officers for a pool of personnel for all deployment-related matters.
- Manage and coordinate communications for this pool of personnel, e.g. creating WhatsApp groups to facilitate dissemination of information quickly and accurately.
- Conduct random on-ground audit checks of ambassador deployments to ensure ambassadors are performing their duties effectively.
- Collate ambassador deployment data and feedback for analysis and reporting.
- Review, verify, and endorse ambassadors payroll timesheets accurately on a monthly basis.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties as required.
Work Requirements
- Able to commit for the full 3-month period.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends if required.
Requirements & Skills
- Diploma or degree holder.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with ambassadors and members of the public.
- Proven experience in people management, coordination skills for managing deployment schedules and resource allocation.
- Problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected situations and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Meticulous attention to detail for reviewing, verifying, and endorsing payroll timesheets accurately and in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
