M&E Quantity Surveyor (QS) - Job Description

Job Summary

The M&E Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works in construction projects. The role involves cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, progress claims, variation orders, and project cost control to ensure projects are completed within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and Bills of Quantities (BQ) for M&E works.
Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
Prepare tender submissions and contract documents.
Review and evaluate subcontractor claims and payment applications.
Prepare progress claims, variation orders (VO), and final accounts.
Monitor project costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Track project budgets and provide regular cost reports.
Verify site measurements and completed work quantities.
Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company procedures.
Assist in contract administration and dispute resolution when required.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 2-5 years of relevant M&E Quantity Surveying experience (depending on seniority).
Knowledge of M&E systems, construction methods, and industry practices.
Familiarity with Singapore construction contracts and regulations.
Strong understanding of tendering, cost estimation, and contract administration.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and QS-related software.
Good analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Able to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in commercial, industrial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of SIA, PSSCOC, or other standard forms of contract.
Experience handling both Mechanical and Electrical trade packages.
