The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University is a diverse school focusing on the connections between geosciences, ecology, society and Earth systems. We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join a research group led by Asst Prof Zeng Yiwen. The successful candidate will work on a multidisciplinary biodiversity modelling and spatial ecology project focused on urban Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Fellow will develop species distribution models, multi-species occupancy models, biodiversity indicators, and geospatial decision-support tools using ecological surveys, remote sensing, and airborne LiDAR data. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with government agencies, industry partners, and leading researchers while contributing to high-impact scientific publications and policy-relevant research.

Job Requirements:

PhD in Ecology, Environmental Science, Geography, Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Conservation Biology, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience in ecological modelling, spatial ecology, biodiversity assessment, or remote sensing.
Proficiency in R and/or Python, GIS, and quantitative data analysis.
Experience with species distribution models (SDMs), occupancy models, or related statistical modelling approaches.
Strong publication record and scientific writing skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with airborne LiDAR, urban ecology, or biodiversity modelling is advantageous.
