Take a trip back in time and find out which of these Star Trek: The Original Series characters you channel at work!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">James T Kirk: The Risk Taker<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.monsterindia.com\/cmsimages\/1504786160.gif\" alt=\"Lessons from Star Trek\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\"><br><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Given his courage, confidence and charismatic personality, the captain of the USS Enterprise believes in leading by example. Bluffing his way to outmaneuver enemies and disobeying direct orders to save team members, Kirk\u2019s willingness to take risks (and accept failure!) is his greatest strengths. His team knows he\u2019d take a bullet for them. In an episode where, after blowing up his cherished ship to save his crew and take out the attackers in one fell swoop, Kirk asks Bones if he did the right thing. Bones replies that he had done \u201cwhat you\u2019ve always done: Turn death into a fighting chance to live\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">At times, Kirk\u2019s impetuous nature may cause him to make snap decisions that don\u2019t have the best results. But his unequivocal loyalty to the mission and ability to gather the facts, study them and respectfully provide input are qualities that endear him to others.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Leonard \u2018Bones\u2019 McCoy: The Compassionate Colleague<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.monsterindia.com\/cmsimages\/1504786244.gif\" alt=\"Lessons from Star Trek\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\"><br><\/strong><br><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">If Kirk is the inspiration and Spock is the brain, we\u2019d call McCoy the heart of the U.S.S Enterprise team. In an episode titled The Ultimate Computer, he even explains why he believes empathy is key to success. \u201cCompassion. That\u2019s the one thing no machine ever had. Maybe it\u2019s the one thing that keeps men ahead of them.\u201d<\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"><br>Bones may be the kindest man on the bridge, but that doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s willing to suffer fools. He\u2019s never one to mince words when it comes to expressing his dislike for people, but he is always the first to bring up the moral side in a discussion. You can always count on him to do the right thing.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Montgomery Scott (Scotty): Pressure Performer<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.monsterindia.com\/cmsimages\/1504786271.gif\" alt=\"Lessons from Star Trek\" width=\"600\" height=\"421\"><br><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">When the going gets tough, you\u2019re unlikely to see this chief engineer jump ship. Like Kirk, he too believes in the \u201cdo as I do\u201d leadership style; unlike Kirk, he\u2019s a background player who shines during high-pressure times. <br><\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Always willing to rise to a challenge, it\u2019s no wonder \u2018Beam me up, Scotty!\u2019 has become his catchphrase.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Pavel Chekov: All Star Player<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.monsterindia.com\/cmsimages\/1504786304.gif\" alt=\"Lessons from Star Trek\" width=\"600\" height=\"396\"><br><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">The youngest person on the bridge, Chekov brings new perspectives to enhance the functioning of the team. We watch him juggle several roles &#8212; second-in-command executive officer, science officer, medical officer. He\u2019s even the office clown, whose nervous energy keeps the laughter going at work. The Russian prodigy is basically that teammate who can do pretty much anything, if given a chance. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Hikaru Sulu: A Man of Many Talents<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.monsterindia.com\/cmsimages\/1504786341.gif\" alt=\"Lessons from Star Trek\" width=\"600\" height=\"326\"><br><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">He may not be the most captivating person on the bridge, but Captain Sulu\u2019s competency in a variety of tasks makes him an integral to the success of the team. In an episode titled \u2018The Man Trap,\u2019 we see how his interest in botany helps identify a carnivorous plant that threatens to wipe out the crew. He\u2019s also the only one Kirk turns to for an assessment of the conditions on unexplored planets. <br><\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Unlike Chekov or Scotty, Sulu\u2019s very level-headed. Which is probably why he\u2019s often asked to take on the role of acting commander of the ship. After all, if you\u2019re looking to divest management responsibilities, you\u2019d want to leave your most pragmatic team member in charge.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Nyota Uhura: The Wonder Woman <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.monsterindia.com\/cmsimages\/1504786375.gif\" alt=\"Lessons from Star Trek\" width=\"600\" height=\"383\"><br><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Of the seven members on the bridge, Nyota Uhura is the only woman on the team.
